CS 54202 - MACHINE LEARNING AND DEEP LEARNING
(Slashed with CS 44202) This course provides an overview of some fundamental concepts, techniques and algorithms in machine learning and deep learning, and will give students a basic understanding (ideas and intuitions) of how modern machine learning works. Specifically, there are three main objectives: 1. To help student get familiar with the fundamental mathematical tools (linear algebra, probability theory, statistical inference, numerical optimization, and learning theory) which lays the foundation of machine learning algorithms and techniques; 2. To introduce the core machine learning concepts and topics, such as linear regression, classification, SVM, and neural networks (and its deep variants); in addition, we will utilize the recommendation system for students to learn how real world machine system works; 3. Teach students how to program and use the latest machine learning packages, such as Tensorflow. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
