Federal Direct Subsidized Loan

Message
"All eligible students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered for the Federal Direct Loan Program. You may receive a Direct Subsidized Loan, a Direct Unsubsidized Loan, or both in the award year. The type of loan you receive is based on your financial need and determined by federal regulations.

The interest on subsidized loans is paid by the federal government while you are attending at least half time (6 credit hours undergraduate/4 credit hours graduate). The unsubsidized loan interest begins to accumulate on the day the loan is applied to your student account.

If you choose to borrow through the Federal Direct Loan Program, you must complete the entire loan request process. All first-time borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling. These requirements may be completed at StudentAid.gov.

You will login with your FSA ID. Your FSA ID is the same ID you used to access and sign your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Please note: The Financial Awareness Counseling listed is not able to be substituted as the required Direct Loan Entrance Counseling. Your Direct Loan will not be disbursed to the school until you complete all steps in the loan process.

If you need additional assistance, contact the One Stop for Student Services."
